I started building because I could not find the guitar I wanted on a wall anywhere. The first one took a year and fought me the whole way; the second took six months and finally played the way I heard it in my head. That is still the whole idea — take the time the instrument needs, and hand over something that feels settled the moment it is in your lap.
These days the shop turns out four instruments a year. Bodies get cut and carved here, necks get roughed on a spokeshave and finished by feel, frets are leveled and dressed by hand, and pickups are wound to suit the wood in front of me rather than a catalog number. Nothing ships until it has been played in and set up properly.
